ADC Postpones Presidential, Governorship Screenings to May 18
The African Democratic Congress has rescheduled its screening exercise for presidential and governorship aspirants to Monday, May 18, 2026.
The party announced the shift in a statement on Saturday by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi. The exercise was earlier scheduled for the weekend, but no reason was given for the postponement
The ADC also said that due to the security situation affecting parts of Northern Nigeria, the screening of affected federal lawmaker aspirants from the region will now take place in Abuja.
According to the party, affected aspirants will be contacted directly with updated schedules. The ADC apologised for any inconvenience caused and appealed for the understanding of all stakeholders.
The development comes as political parties intensify internal preparations ahead of the 2027 general elections. The ADC, one of the opposition parties, has recently stepped up consultations and mobilisation across the country.
