Married woman who faked her own kidnap found in Delta hotel with lover
A married woman, identified as Oluchi, has been discovered in a hotel in Delta State after staging her own abduction and demanding a N50 million ransom from her family.
Her children, including a daughter based in Canada, had earlier appealed to the public for help as the supposed kidnappers later reduced the demand to N20 million. The family had reported to police that their mother was abducted in the Ikpoba Hill area of Edo State.
However, police traced the phone number of a man linked to the incident to a hotel in Ubiaroko, Delta State, where they found Oluchi with her lover. A source said officers met the couple inside the hotel. The husband was called to the station, where the truth was revealed. The wife reportedly begged him not to tell their children.
In an online video, the daughter, Anita, expressed shock, saying her mother’s actions had shattered the family. She stated that no ransom was paid, the money raised remains intact, and the family would allow the law to take its course.
A social club Anita belongs to, the Harmony Ladies Club, issued a statement dissociating itself from the incident, describing deep disappointment and betrayal after members had provided emotional, logistical, and financial support.
Edo State Police spokesperson, Eno Ikoedem, confirmed the incident and said four persons have been arrested in connection with the case.
