Stage collapses at Osun rally, Governor Adeleke and others unhurt

A podium where Governor Ademola Adeleke and other top officials were seated at a political rally in Ijebu-Jesa, Osun State, collapsed on Wednesday, causing brief apprehension.

A 30-second video obtained by news sources showed Adeleke, his deputy Kola Adewusi, Speaker of the State House of Assembly Adewale Egbedun, and Imole Campaign Council spokesperson Pelumi Olajengbesi among those on the podium when it caved in. The incident occurred as the event anchor was concluding a segment and about to announce the next item on the programme.

A witness who spoke on condition of anonymity said the collapse disrupted the rally, but security personnel quickly assisted those affected out of the rubble. The event later resumed, and the governor addressed the gathering.

The deputy spokesperson to the governor, Oladele Bamiji, downplayed the severity of the incident, stating that no injuries were recorded and the event continued smoothly. He noted that the governor proceeded to another engagement in Odo-Otin Local Government Area after the rally.
