Nigerian Military Airstrikes Neutralize 27 Insurgents in Borno State

In a coordinated counter-terrorism operation, the air component of the military’s Joint Task Force, Operation Hadin Kai, successfully eliminated 27 insurgents during separate aerial operations in Borno State. The precision strikes targeted known militant strongholds within the Northern and Southern Tumbus regions near the Lake Chad basin.

According to official operational updates, the missions were executed following extensive Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) deployments designed to track insurgent movements and logistical bases in the North-East theater.

The first interdiction occurred during the early hours of June 10 in Dawoshe, located in the Southern Tumbus area. Aerial surveillance detected a convoy of insurgent vehicles, prompting an immediate engagement by military aircraft. A subsequent Battle Damage Assessment (BDA) confirmed that the targeted vehicles were entirely destroyed and 12 combatants were neutralized.

Later that same day, the air component launched a second precision strike on a militant camp in Metele, a community within the Guzamala Local Government Area of Northern Tumbus. Post-strike evaluations, corroborated by both aerial footage and Human Intelligence (HUMINT), confirmed that an additional 15 insurgents were killed during the raid.

Defense officials stated that the dual operations have dealt a severe blow to the operational capabilities of the insurgent networks operating along the fringes of Lake Chad. The strikes are part of a broader, ongoing offensive aimed at dismantling insurgent logistics, destroying their hideouts, and restricting their freedom of movement across the region.

The military reiterated its commitment to maintaining pressure on terrorist factions in the North-East until stability and long-term security are fully restored to the affected communities.
