Senator Adeola Pledges Development for Egbaland Ahead of 2027 Gubernatorial Bid
Senator Solomon Adeola, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the upcoming 2027 election in Ogun State, has formally visited the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, to outline his development vision for the region.
During his visit to the palace in Abeokuta on Saturday, the senator emphasized his deep-rooted ties to the area, identifying as a son of Egbaland through his maternal lineage in the Kemta Odusolu township. He stated that his visit was intended to formally notify the monarch of his candidacy and to reaffirm his commitment to the growth of the state capital and the broader Ogun Central Senatorial District.
Senator Adeola, who currently represents Ogun West at the national level, highlighted his track record of facilitating infrastructure and social welfare projects across the state, even outside his own constituency. He assured the traditional ruler and the local community that if elected governor, his administration would prioritize an inclusive agenda focused on socio-economic development, infrastructure upgrades, and robust empowerment programs for women and youths.
“As a bona fide son of the soil, I will not disappoint you,” Adeola stated, promising that his government would ensure Egbaland receives a significant share of developmental focus.
The visit, which was facilitated by community leaders, included a warm reception at the Adire Market in Itoku, where the candidate interacted with local residents. The Alake of Egbaland expressed his appreciation for the visit and offered prayers for the senator’s success in his political aspirations.
The senator further noted that his team has already initiated several constituency projects in the region and reiterated that his commitment to the area spans more than two decades, underscoring his intent to build on those existing relationships should he ascend to the governorship.
