Kebbi Hisbah Arrests 25 in Argungu Raid on Alleged Immoral Activities
HOperatives from the Kebbi State Hisbah Board, operating under the Ministry of Religious Affairs, have arrested 25 individuals during a targeted raid on a hotel in Argungu town.
The operation, which took place on Friday, July 3, resulted in the detention of 12 men and 13 women.
Sirajo Kamba, the Director of Shariah at the Hisbah Board, confirmed the arrests in a statement released to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday. He stated that the raid is part of a broader, ongoing campaign by the board to curb social vices, uphold local moral standards, and ensure public order across the state.
“The Kebbi Hisbah Board carried out a raid at a hotel in Argungu and successfully apprehended 25 suspects allegedly involved in immoral activities,” Kamba said.
The board has indicated that it is currently conducting a thorough investigation into the matter. Kamba emphasized that the agency is committed to following due process, noting that any individuals found to be in violation of the law will face the appropriate legal consequences.
The state government has not yet provided further details regarding the specific charges the detainees may face as the investigation continues.
