Nigerian Navy Inducts First Locally Built Vessel, SSV KALI 3 in Delta

The Nigerian Navy has inducted the first of 10 KALI-series Next Generation Security Support Vessels (SSVs) into service as part of efforts to strengthen the country’s maritime security capabilities.

The vessel was locally built in Delta State by South-East Petroleum and Engineering Company (SEEPCO), in partnership with the Nigerian Navy.

The induction marks a significant milestone in Nigeria’s drive to develop indigenous capacity in naval shipbuilding and reduce reliance on imported military platforms.

The KALI-series vessels are expected to enhance the Navy’s operational capabilities, particularly in maritime surveillance, patrol and security operations.

The partnership between SEEPCO and the Nigerian Navy also underscores growing collaboration between the military and local industry in the development of specialised platforms for national security.

The remaining nine vessels are expected to be delivered as part of the 10-vessel KALI-series programme.
