Police Gun Down Two Suspected Kidnappers, Rescue Abducted Truck Driver in Ogun

The Ogun State Police Command has rescued a truck driver who was kidnapped by armed men and neutralised two suspected members of the gang during a tactical operation in the state.

Police authorities said the victim was abducted on the night of August 25 in the Ajibawo area of Ibese. Following a distress report, operatives of the command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit launched an intelligence-driven operation aimed at locating the victim and dismantling the criminal network behind the abduction.

Acting on credible information, security operatives traced the suspects to a hideout along the Papalanto-Ilaro axis. A confrontation reportedly ensued during the raid, resulting in the death of two suspected kidnappers, while other gang members escaped with injuries.

The kidnapped driver was successfully rescued during the operation without further harm.

Items recovered from the scene included two AK-47 rifles, 25 rounds of live ammunition, mobile phones and N2 million believed to be linked to the gang’s activities.

Police said efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest the fleeing suspects, while investigations have been intensified to uncover the full scope of the gang’s operations.

Commending the officers involved, the Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Bode Ojajuni, described the operation as a significant achievement in the fight against kidnapping and violent crime. He assured residents that the command would continue to deploy intelligence-led strategies and tactical operations to safeguard lives and property across the state.

The police also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and provide useful information that could assist security agencies in identifying and apprehending criminal elements.
