NYSC, BPP Strengthen Procurement Partnership

The National Youth Service Corps has commended the Bureau of Public Procurement for its support in building the capacity of the Scheme’s procurement officers.

NYSC Director General, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, gave the commendation on Wednesday during a courtesy visit to the BPP Director General, Dr. Adebowale Adedokun, in Abuja.

General Nafiu said the training provided by BPP would enhance the knowledge and skills of NYSC procurement officers and keep them abreast of current policies, regulations and best practices in public procurement.

He assured that the Scheme would continue to ensure strict compliance with statutory regulations guiding public procurement in the country.

The NYSC DG also appreciated BPP for its welfare and capacity-building initiatives for Corps Members serving at the Bureau, noting that the exposure would equip them with valuable skills for future careers in public service.

“We want to thank you for your support for the National Youth Service Corps and for understanding our peculiarities. This has made our jobs very easy. We also thank you for taking very good care of our Corps Members,” he said.

Nafiu welcomed BPP’s proposal to deliver awareness lectures on public procurement to Corps Members during the Orientation Course, describing it as a step in the right direction.

In his remarks, Dr. Adedokun commended General Nafiu for prioritising staff capacity building and the digitalisation of NYSC operations.

He also applauded the Scheme for promoting national integration through the deployment policy, which he said had fostered stronger social bonds and inter-tribal marriages among Nigerians.

“We are totally in alignment with NYSC peculiarities. We will support you in how procurement is being carried out,” the BPP DG added.
