Sultan Cautions District Heads Against Partisan Politics
The Sultan of Sokoto Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar has urged heads of traditional institutions to remain neutral and treat all political actors equally, noting that they play vital role in promoting peace, security and social development at the grassroots.
Sultan Abubakar who stated this while addressing the District heads in Sokoto called on them to remain security-conscious within their domains and to promptly alert relevant authorities on any developments that could threaten peace and stability.
During the engagement, Commander of the Sokoto State Hisbah Board, Usman Jatau, briefed the District Heads on the Board’s efforts in tackling social challenges, particularly extravagance associated with wedding ceremonies and other forms of immorality, calling for more support from traditional Rulers in ensuring a decent Society.
Meanwhile, the Director, National Population Commission, Sokoto State Office, Sani Ladan Dogondaji, alongside UNICEF representatives, utilised the Forum to sensitise the District Heads on the importance of birth and death registration.
They highlighted the role of accurate vital registration in strengthening planning, access to social services, legal identity and evidence-based development.
