Women and Youths protest high cost of living in Minna, block major roads
Gunshots were reportedly fired by the Police to disperse residents who were protesting against the rising cost of living in Minna, the Niger State capital.
As early as 7am on Monday, Feb. 5, a group of women blocked Minna-Bida Road at the popular Kpakungu roundabout to express their grievances over the rising cost of food items.
The protesters said the rising cost of food items and poor government efforts to arrest the situation have forced them to block major roads so that the government will hear their cries and make life a lot easier for them.
