Scores feared dead as tanker explosion rocks Kaduna

Many people have been reported dead following the tanker explosion that rocked Dan Magaji, Zaria, Kaduna State.

The unfortunate incident occurred on Monday morning at about 8:30 a.m. near Rochas Foundation School along the Kaduna–Kano expressway bypass, from Kwangila to Dan Magaji.

According to security analyst, Zagazola Makama via the microblogging platform, X formerly Twitter, the accident involved two fuel-laden tankers and two passenger-filled Golf cars.

The collision triggered five loud explosions, followed by a massive fire and thick smoke that covered the highway.

A witness said: “All the occupants of the cars died on the spot, except one driver who survived but sustained severe burns.”

Emergency services and security personnel have reportedly cordoned off the area, advising motorists to avoid the route while rescue efforts continue.
