AAC Presidential Candidate Demands Decisive Action on Banditry and Economic Hardship

The presidential candidate of the Action Alliance (AA) for the 2027 general election, Adekunle Omo-Aje, has called on governments at all levels and national security agencies to scale up operations against banditry, kidnapping, and terrorism across the country.

In a Democracy Day message released on Friday, Omo-Aje stated that the dividends of Nigeria’s 26 years of uninterrupted democratic rule remain incomplete while citizens continue to face severe security threats and unresolved captive situations.

He noted that despite decades of civilian governance, many communities particularly within the North-West and North-Central regions remain heavily burdened by insecurity, inflation, and a lack of basic infrastructure.

The political leader emphasized that meaningful democracy must focus on public welfare rather than being limited to periodic elections and political appointments. He highlighted poor road networks, unstable electricity, and inadequate water access as critical barriers to development at the grassroots level, urging immediate infrastructure investments to drive job creation and raise living standards.

Addressing the national economy, Omo-Aje urged policymakers to implement targeted measures to cushion households against persistent inflation, support small and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs), and restore local purchasing power.

He concluded by commending the resilience of the Nigerian public, warning that vital advancements in agricultural production, education, and healthcare will remain severely bottlenecked if widespread safety concerns are not decisively addressed.
