ADC Candidate Slams Court Order Deregistering Party Ahead of Osun Election

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for the upcoming August 15 Osun State governorship election, Dr. Najeem Salaam, has condemned a Federal High Court ruling ordering the deregistration of the political party, labeling the decision a “miscarriage of justice.”

In a statement issued on Monday in Osogbo, Salaam expressed confidence that the judicial pronouncement would be reversed through the appropriate legal channels, ensuring the democratic rights of the party’s supporters remain protected. He emphasized that the high court’s judgment is neither the final step in the legal process nor the conclusion of the party’s political campaign.

“Democracy is governed by the rule of law, and our Constitution provides clear avenues for appeal and judicial review,” Salaam stated, reassuring party members across the 30 local government areas of Osun State that there is no reason for panic.

He described the ADC in Osun State as a resilient, people-driven movement centered on competent leadership, economic prosperity, and improved public infrastructure. Salaam maintained that the campaign remains fully on track to provide a credible alternative for voters, pointing to growing momentum and support from various professional, agricultural, and youth groups across the state.

Urging supporters to stay focused despite the legal setback, Salaam asserted that the August gubernatorial election will ultimately center on crucial issues, including job creation, accessible education, enhanced healthcare delivery, and good governance.
