Alleged visa fraud: UK-based Nigerian to Testify Virtually as Court Adjourns to June 24

A Federal Capital Territory High Court sitting in Jabi, Abuja, has adjourned proceedings in an ongoing alleged visa fraud case to June 24, 2026.
The matter, which was previously scheduled for hearing on May 7, 2026, could not proceed due to the absence of the presiding judge, Justice Olumuyiwa Oyeyipo, who was reportedly attending an official conference.
At the next adjourned date, a United Kingdom-based Nigerian, Mr. Emmanuel Opeyemi Makinde, is expected to testify virtually before the court.
Makinde had, through his counsel, Muhydeen Adeoye Esq. of Adeoye Galadima & Associates, submitted a formal petition dated April 23, 2026 to the Force Criminal Investigation Department, FCID,, Abuja, requesting investigation into the alleged use of his identity and personal information in relation to Miss Dolapo Afusat Yusuf during a visa application process.
According to the petition, Makinde stated that he had engaged the services of a travel consultant in 2023 for the processing of his United Kingdom student visa application.
The petition alleged that false representations were subsequently made linking him with Miss Dolapo Afusat Yusuf as spouse/dependant without his knowledge, authority or consent.
The petition further stated that the issue has negatively affected Makinde’s immigration status and requested the intervention of the Nigeria Police in investigating the circumstances surrounding the alleged representations and related documents connected to the visa application process.
