Amaechi Accepts Atiku’s offer, Becomes ADC Running Mate

The presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku Abubakar, has chosen former Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi, as his running mate for the 2027 presidential election.

This was confirmed on Saturday by Sampson, the immediate past chairman of the ADC in Rivers State.

Amaechi had earlier contested in the ADC presidential primary but lost to Atiku. Before the primary election, he had said he did not buy the party’s presidential nomination form just to end up becoming a vice-presidential candidate.

Following the primary, Amaechi also rejected the outcome of the election, as some party members claimed the process was unfair and favoured Atiku.

However, when asked whether Amaechi had accepted the vice-presidential position, Sampson responded with a simple “yes,” confirming that the former Rivers State governor has agreed to join Atiku on the ADC ticket.

The development is expected to strengthen the ADC’s preparations ahead of the 2027 general election.
