Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 6 Brigade have arrested two suspected gunrunners and recovered weapons in separate intelligence-led operations in Taraba State.
According to Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, the Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the brigade, the suspects Christopher Adamu and James Yangyang were apprehended on January 11 and 12 in the Jalingo and Ardo-Kola Local Government Areas, respectively.
Following the arrests, a subsequent cordon-and-search operation in Murubai Village, Ardo-Kola LGA, led to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, one magazine, and four rounds of ammunition from the residence of a third suspect, Bazoe John, who remains at large.
The operations, conducted in collaboration with the Defence Intelligence Agency under Operation WHIRL STROKE, were executed without any casualties. The Army stated that the activities reflect the troops’ discipline and professionalism.
