Army Chief Waidi Shaibu Pledges Sustained Security Deployment in Plateau State

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has assured that the Nigerian Army will continue to deploy personnel and operational resources to tackle security challenges in Plateau State and across the country.

Shaibu gave the assurance on Tuesday during a courtesy visit to the Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, as part of his operational and familiarization tour of army formations in the state.

In a statement by the Army spokesperson, Colonel Appolonia Anele, the COAS reaffirmed the commitment of the service to restoring lasting peace and security. He stated that troops would remain professionally deployed to mitigate threats and protect citizens.

“The Nigerian Army will continue to deploy its personnel and resources professionally to mitigate security threats and ensure the protection of lives and property. With all hands on deck, lasting peace on the Plateau is achievable,” Shaibu said.

He commended the Plateau State Government for its consistent support to the Nigerian Army, particularly the Armoured Corps, describing the state as a strategic partner and the home of the corps.

While acknowledging the complexity of the security situation, the Army Chief emphasized that sustained collaboration, intelligence sharing, and joint efforts among all stakeholders would yield positive outcomes.

In his response, Governor Mutfwang congratulated Shaibu on his appointment as the 25th Chief of Army Staff and wished him a successful tenure.

The governor praised the sacrifices and professionalism of Nigerian Army personnel, noting that despite multiple deployments across the nation, the Army has continued to carry out its duties effectively.
