Army Dismantles Illegal Oil Bunkering Hub in Lagos, Arrests Six Suspects

Troops of the 65 Battalion of the Nigerian Army have dismantled a suspected illegal oil bunkering hub in the Orile General Area of Lagos State, apprehending six suspects during an intelligence-driven operation.

The raid was carried out under the leadership of the Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel S. Adeojo, following actionable intelligence regarding illicit oil operations in the area.

During the sweep, military personnel recovered four heavy-duty trucks, industrial pumping equipment, and various pipes and storage drums used for illegal bunkering. The arrested suspects and seized items have since been transferred to the Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps for detailed investigation and legal proceedings.

Commending the troops for the successful operation, the General Officer Commanding 81 Division, Major General Adebayo Babalola, urged officers to maintain the momentum against economic sabotage and illicit activities across the division’s operational zone.

The military highlighted that the raid aligns with ongoing national security efforts to curb illegal oil bunkering, safeguard critical infrastructure, and protect the national economy.
