Army Thwarts Kidnapping Attempt in Taraba State
Troops from the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, serving under Operation Whirl Stroke, successfully disrupted a kidnapping and robbery incident on Friday along the Wukari-Ikyior road in Taraba State.
The operation was launched following a distress call reporting that criminals had blocked the road and were attacking civilians. Troops stationed at the Forward Operating Base in Wukari responded immediately.

The rescued individuals, identified as Terso Kerso, 48, and Udongu Terbo, 42, both from the local Ikyior community, were found unconscious. They were quickly evacuated to the Federal University Teaching Hospital in Wukari for urgent medical care.
Brigadier General Kingsley Uwa, Commander of 6 Brigade, commended the troops for their swift and professional response, which he stated prevented a likely loss of life. He reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to proactive security operations in the region.
Following the incident, security patrols and surveillance have been intensified in the general area to deter further criminal activity and reassure the public. Authorities have urged residents to continue providing timely information to support ongoing security efforts.
