Peoples Democratic Party National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, will today, Wednesday, begin a 14-day trip to Europe .
This was disclosed by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the PDP Chairman, Simon Imobo-Tswam, in a statement on Tuesday.
Imobo-Tswam who did not disclose the reason for Ayu’s trip, said Mr Ayu is expected back in Nigeria by the end of September.
“While away, the party Deputy Chairman (North), Amb. Iliya Damagun, will act in Ayu’s place.
“Already, the national chairman has communicated the handover to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC),” he said.
On September 8, the National Executive Council (NEC) of the party passed a vote of confidence in Ayu.
The vacation is coming amidst the crisis rocking the party, a crisis that has pitted Rivers Governor Nyesome Wike and some of his allies against the presidential candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar.
