Bauchi Hisbah Commissioner Resigns

The Permanent Commissioner in charge of the Hisbah Board under the Bauchi State Sharia Commission, Barr. Aminu Balarabe Isah, has resigned from his position.

He conveyed his resignation in a letter dated October 26, 2026, addressed to the Bauchi State Governor, Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed. Isah said he made the decision after deep reflection and described it as strictly personal and entirely voluntary. He stressed that his resignation was not linked to any dispute or problem between him and the state government or any government official. “I wish to categorically state that this resignation is entirely voluntary and is not connected to any dispute or problem with your government or any official within your administration,” he said.

Isah also thanked Governor Mohammed for the opportunity to serve Bauchi State, particularly in helping to promote peace, discipline and community development through the work of the Hisbah.

As of this report, no successor had been named to replace him as Permanent Commissioner in charge of Hisbah. The Bauchi State Sharia Commission’s official profile still listed Isah as Permanent Commissioner II.

The resignation comes amid broader changes in the Bauchi State Government. In August, Governor Mohammed swore in four new commissioners following the exit of some political appointees who resigned to pursue elective positions ahead of the 2027 general elections. Isah’s departure is not connected to the internal crisis in the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), according to available reports. Analysts have cautioned against linking his resignation to the party’s leadership dispute without separate evidence.

The former commissioner said he was leaving with respect for the system and the people he had worked with during his time in office
