FCT Police Recover Vehicle With Suspected Fake Presidency Plate

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command says it has intercepted a Toyota Corolla bearing a suspected fake Presidency registration number plate and commenced an investigation into the vehicle.

The command said the black Toyota Corolla, driven by one Agbogun Benard, was intercepted by police operatives at about 2:35 p.m. on Monday, October 26, following credible intelligence.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, said the vehicle, which bore registration number M01-997 FG, was taken to the command’s headquarters for discreet investigation.

“During preliminary investigation, the driver of the vehicle could not give satisfactory explanation as to the source of the registration number,” the statement read.

Adeh said investigations were ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the allocation, ownership and use of the registration number, as well as verify the authenticity of the vehicle’s registration particulars.

The command urged residents to remain law-abiding and report suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station.
