Benue PDP Holds Expanded Caucus to Strategize for 2027 Elections

The Peoples Democratic Party in Benue State on Sunday convened an expanded caucus meeting in Makurdi to discuss strategies for repositioning the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Ex-Governor Samuel Ortom, leader of the state PDP, briefed members on party affairs and preparations for the polls.

He noted that the internal crisis that had fragmented the party was resolved following a Court of Appeal judgment, giving legitimacy to the Abduhraman Mohammed and Samuel Anyanwu-led caretaker committee.

Ortom also announced that the party’s e-registration exercise would begin on March 16, 2026, lasting two weeks, after which the e-register would be submitted to Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Dr Abba Moro expressed confidence that the PDP was positioned to reclaim power in Benue in 2027, criticizing the current governor for neglecting the welfare of the state.

State PDP Chairman, Ezekiel Adaji, appreciated defectors from the APC who joined strategic efforts to “rescue Benue” and condemned the attack on the party’s media consultant, Bemgba Iortyom.

The meeting featured discussions on party unity, strategic partnerships, and preparations to ensure electoral success in the upcoming elections.
