College Students Murder Colleague Over Phone Theft In Sokoto

The Sultan Abdurrahman College Of Health Technology, Gwadabawa in Sokoto state has dismissed seven students who reportedly killed a fellow student over alleged phone theft.

Nasir Musa, Provost of the College, while confirming the decision, said the students connived with their visiting friends to kill a 200-level Dental student of the college whom they accused of stealing a phone belonging to one of them.

According to the Provost, both the victim and the perpetrators were living in a rented house outside the school.

“From our investigation, the students went to the room of the victim around 2am last Sunday.

“They brought him outside and started interrogating him. They wanted him to confess to the crime.

“They tied him to a pole and beat him up to the point of unconsciousness.

“Two of the students rushed him to the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital in the state’s metropolis where he was confirmed dead.

“It was the management of the hospital that called and informed me about the incident in the morning and I directed one of my staff to go and confirm because I was in Gwadabawa at the time.

“I also directed the DPO in charge of Gwadabawa local government to go and arrest all the occupants of the house which he did.

“So far, seven students have been arrested in connection with the killing and we have dismissed all that were involved in the killing because this will serve as deterrent to others.

“We learnt that the students connived with their friends who came from the city. They too are under the search light of the police,” he said.
