Coup Allegation: DSS Frees Fani-Kayode On Bail

The Department of State Services (DSS) has released a former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, on bail.

The ex-minister was asked by the secret service to report back to its facility on Wednesday.

This was confirmed by the DSS spokesperson John Afunanya on Monday.

The DSS invited the Director of Special Projects and New Media of the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council for questioning and grilled him for over four hours.

Fani-Kayode was questioned at the DSS office in Abuja after the former minister alleged that the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, had a secret meeting with some army generals.

However, the Defence Headquarters had subsequently denied the alleged meeting, pledging its commitment to democracy.

Mr Afunanya said in a statement that the former minister reported to the service at 9:00am in response to the invitation extended to him.

“Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has been with the DSS since 9am today, February 13, 2023, in response to the invitation extended to him by the Service,” Afunanya said.

Fani-Kayode also confirmed his release thus: “I’ve been released. I’m on my way home. I’m going to address the press on the matter. Everything is under control.”
