Delta Police Launch Zero-Tolerance Crackdown on Traffic Offenders, Mobile Courts Activated

Motorists in Delta State have been put on alert as the State Police Command announces an immediate crackdown on traffic violations, with offenders now facing swift prosecution before newly operational mobile courts.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Edafe Bright, confirmed that the Delta State Judiciary has officially designated mobile courts as functional across various jurisdictions. This development empowers the police to intensify enforcement operations on major roads and urban centres, including Asaba, Warri, Effurun, Sapele, Ughelli, and Agbor.

According to SP Bright, the mobile courts are legally equipped to summarily try traffic offenders, signalling a move towards zero tolerance for road indiscipline. “Offences such as reckless driving, driving against traffic, use of unauthorised number plates, driving without registration numbers, unauthorised use of sirens and revolving lights, and obstruction will attract immediate arrest and prosecution,” he stated.

The command warned members of the public to adhere strictly to traffic regulations, emphasizing that there would be no room for impunity. “There will be zero tolerance for traffic indiscipline, obstruction of law enforcement officers, or attempts to evade lawful arrest,” the statement added.

The enforcement push is part of broader efforts to restore order on the roads, improve safety, and protect lives and property. While assuring that law-abiding residents have nothing to fear, the police reiterated that violators must be prepared to face the full weight of the law.

SP Bright reaffirmed the command’s commitment to public safety under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Aina Adesola, vowing to strengthen surveillance and patrols to ensure compliance across the state.
