Edo police command Crackdown yields 821 Suspects, Arms Recoveries and rescue 377 kidnap victims

Edo State Police Command arrested 821 suspects for various crimes in 2025, Commissioner of Police Monday Agbonika announced at a year-end security review. The arrests include 39 armed robbery suspects, 171 kidnapping suspects, 117 murder suspects, 62 for rape and sexual offences, and 239 cultism suspects.

The command recovered 11 stolen vehicles, 188 arms, and 422 ammunition rounds. Agbonika attributed successes to proactive policing and intelligence, including a clearance operation in Edo North with police helicopters and drones.

The operation involved inter-agency collaboration with the army, air force, and others. Agbonika assured continued efforts beyond the festive period and urged public vigilance. He also warned against corpse disappearance from private morgues, vowing action against culprits.

Meanwhile, Lagos Police arrested five suspects for a viral staged kidnapping incident involving a schoolboy.
