EFCC arrests 15 suspects over illegal dealing in radioactive minerals in Niger State
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 15 men in connection with the illegal handling of radioactive solid minerals in Niger State.
The suspects were intercepted on Sunday, March 8, 2026, along the Suleja-Maji Road while transporting the minerals in three trucks to various locations across the country for an undisclosed purpose, the anti-graft agency disclosed on Tuesday.
According to a statement from the commission, all 15 individuals are currently in custody at the EFCC’s Kaduna Zonal Directorate, where they are being interrogated.
“The suspects are currently undergoing further investigations in the Kaduna Zonal Directorate of the Commission and will soon be charged to court,” the EFCC said.
The agency did not disclose the specific type or quantity of the minerals intercepted but called on the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity involving radioactive or strategic minerals.
