El-Rufai Wraps Up Second Phase of KASU Student Scholarship Initiative

Member representing Kaduna North Federal Constituency, Hon. Mohammed Bello El-Rufai, on Monday announced the successful completion of the second phase of the Alhaji Bashir El-Rufai Scholarship Programme aimed at supporting financially vulnerable students of Kaduna State University (KASU).

The El-Rufai KASU scholarship programme, according to a statement shared via his official X account, was overseen by an ad hoc committee set up to manage the selection process and ensure transparency in beneficiary identification.

Mohammed Bello El-Rufai stated that the committee had concluded its assignment after carefully selecting students from across multiple wards in Kaduna North, including Shaba, Gaji, Unguwar Liman, Maiburuji, and Kabala, in what he described as a deliberate effort to promote inclusiveness.

He emphasised that beneficiaries were not personally known to him, stressing that the process was designed to be fair, accountable, and free from bias.

The lawmaker also noted that the programme adhered strictly to guidelines established at its inception, including provisions for gender balance and representation of women, Christians, and persons living with disabilities.

According to him, the committee met all outlined requirements, and its members will be rewarded as a token of appreciation for their work on the initiative.

“The ad hoc committee met the requirements I set up and announced for a minimum number of women, Christians and individuals with ‘Special Abilities’ Community. I will be providing a bonus for the efforts of the ad hoc members as a token of encouragement,” he said.

Mohammed Bello El-Rufai reaffirmed his commitment to grassroots development in Kaduna North, insisting that constituency-focused interventions would remain a priority despite the broader political climate.

“Despite all the election noise, we will continue to focus on the excellent people of Kaduna North as we have done from day one,” he added.

The lawmaker, who also chairs the House Committee on Banking Regulations, has in recent years expanded constituency outreach programmes, with the scholarship scheme aimed at easing educational burdens for underprivileged students.
