Ex-Customs Officer Abducted in Osun State Raid by Gunmen

Gunmen have abducted a retired customs officer, Prince Emmanuel Owolabi, from his home in Ora Igbomina, a border community in Osun State’s Ifedayo local government area.

The attack occurred on Monday night, around 7pm, when the gunmen stormed Owolabi’s house, shooting sporadically to scare away residents. They forcibly entered the house and took the ex-customs officer away.

Sources indicate that the gunmen also targeted travellers along the Akisa road, attempting to abduct them. However, the travellers raised an alarm and ran to safety, prompting the gunmen to open fire, injuring several people.

The Osun State Police Public Relations Officer confirmed the abduction of Prince Owolabi but denied reports that anyone was killed during the incident.

Local security guards and community vigilantes reportedly tried to repel the attackers but were outnumbered and outgunned. The motive behind the abduction is still unclear, and efforts are ongoing to rescue the victim.
