Family Demands Justice for Slain 65-Year-Old Anambra Woman, Petitions Government and Security Agencies
The family of a 65-year-old woman, Regina Nwoye, has formally petitioned President Bola Tinubu, Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo, and heads of relevant security agencies, demanding a comprehensive investigation into her brutal murder. The petition, signed by the victim’s daughter, Blessing Uwechia, calls for the immediate tracking and swift prosecution of all individuals involved in the crime.
Nwoye was reportedly targeted and stabbed multiple times at her residence in Ogbu Village, Ivite Umueri, within the Anambra East Local Government Area. While community members managed to apprehend a primary suspect, Sunday Ndukaife, and hand him over to law enforcement, the family suspects accomplice involvement. Despite the detained suspect’s claim of acting alone, local eyewitnesses reported seeing two individuals fleeing the scene during the attack.
The family also highlighted a distressing delay in medical attention, alleging that several hospitals declined to provide immediate emergency care. Nwoye was reportedly shuttled between multiple medical centers in Awka for several hours before she finally succumbed to her injuries. The Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, Tochi Ikenga, confirmed receipt of the family’s petition, noting that the case is under active review.
