Fintiri Declares Self APC Leader in Adamawa, Pledges Victory and Unity

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has declared himself the leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, following his official defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) last week.

Addressing supporters at a reception organised by APC leaders in Yola, Fintiri insisted that he would steer the party toward success in the upcoming elections.

“As leader of the party, I will ensure that we work together in unity,” he said.

He urged party members to pool resources and goodwill for collective progress, emphasising that losing was “not in our dictionary.”

Fintiri reassured long-standing APC members that his defection was not a takeover but an alignment for the benefit of Adamawa people.

“I want to assure that we are here for partnership. This is not a takeover mission,” Fintiri said, expressing gratitude to President Bola Tinubu and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu for supporting his transition to the party.

Fintiri also thanked those who joined him from the PDP, commending their loyalty and humility in submitting to State APC Chairman Idris Shuaibu.

Shuaibu, speaking earlier, said Fintiri’s entry with nearly his entire government guaranteed electoral success. “Unity is manifesting, success is certain,” he added.

The Minister of Livestock Development, Idi Mukhtar Maiha, described Fintiri’s move as progress for Adamawa State, while APC National Vice Chairman for the North East, Mustapha Salihu, thanked him and other former PDP leaders for leaving their comfort zones to join the APC.

Fintiri’s declaration positions him as the state party leader, signalling a strategic realignment of Adamawa’s political landscape ahead of the next elections.
