Fire Erupts at Industrial Park in Ogun State, Spreads to Homes
A significant fire broke out at the Guangdong Free Trade Zone in Igbesa, Ogun State, on Sunday morning, spreading from an industrial facility to nearby residential buildings.
Videos from the scene showed large plumes of black smoke and intense flames consuming factory structures. Residents were evacuated as emergency services arrived to battle the blaze.
While authorities have not yet determined the official cause, local reports citing residents suggest the fire may have started with a gas explosion at a foam manufacturing company around dawn. The flames reportedly damaged several homes before firefighters gained control.
Fatai Adefala, Director of the Ogun State Fire Service, confirmed the response, stating that crews from Agbara and Ota had been on-site for several hours working to contain the fire. There have been no initial reports of casualties.
