Flooding: Remi Tinubu Gifts FCT Affected Homes 250k Each
Th first lady of Nigeria, Oluremi Tinubu has donated N250,000 each to households affected by the flood in TradeMore estate, Abuja.
On June 23, several residents of the estate along the airport road were trapped by a flood caused by heavy rainfall.
Several houses and vehicles were submerged underwater when the flood lasted.
In a statement on Thursday, Bukola Kukoyi, her media aide, said the first lady made donations to 57 households through Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), her pet project.
Tinubu who was represented by Nana Shettima, wife of the vice president, expressed sympathy over the “unfortunate” incident.
She acknowledged that there is no certainty in preventing a recurrence of such a disaster but expressed hope that the intervention of the RHI would considerably mitigate the hardships they are currently facing.
The first lady said although the RHI is still in the process of registration by the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), she could not ignore the current situation affecting the estate.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Adewale Adenaike, chairman of the resident association, thanked Tinubu for the support extended to them.
