Four Remanded in Prison After Pistol Intercepted in Delta Commercial Waybill

The Delta State High Court in Asaba has ordered the remand of four suspected members of an interstate gun-running syndicate following their formal arraignment.

The suspects – Emmanuel Chukwuemeka, Clifford Boleyelefa, Amadi Princewill, and Amadi Felix Chibuike were arrested during separate intelligence-led operations in Bayelsa and Imo states after investigators linked them to the illegal procurement and distribution of firearms across state lines.

The case stems from an April 26, 2026, operation where security personnel intercepted a fabricated Beretta pistol and four rounds of live 9mm ammunition hidden inside a transit waybill package at the Effurun motor park in the Uvwie Local Government Area.

Following the conclusion of the investigation, the suspects were brought before the court on a five-count charge. The indictments include unlawful possession of a firearm, illegal possession of ammunition, conspiracy to belong to an unlawful society, and active membership in the proscribed Black Axe Confraternity.

Following their pleas, the court ordered that all four defendants be remanded in a custodial facility pending further legal proceedings.

State police spokesperson SP Bright Edafe confirmed the remand order and noted that law enforcement agents are actively tracking remaining suspects connected to the syndicate who are still at large.

Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to tackling the proliferation of illegal weapons and violent cultism to ensure the safety of residents across the state.
