In a major boost to the unity of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Gombe State, the party’s sole female governorship aspirant, Monica Yahaya Kaltho, has withdrawn her lawsuit challenging the outcome of the gubernatorial primary election. Kaltho has formally thrown her support behind the PDP governorship candidate, Professor Isa Ali Pantami, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking on her decision, Kaltho revealed that the move followed extensive consultations and a direct intervention from the leader of the PDP in Gombe State and former governor, Senator Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo. She emphasized that the development of Gombe State and the success of the party outweigh personal political ambitions, urging all party faithful to unite behind the collective goal.

Professor Pantami, who emerged as the party’s standard-bearer through an affirmation process, commended Kaltho’s decision, describing it as a showcase of maturity, patriotism, and deep commitment to the PDP. As part of the party’s ongoing internal reconciliation strategy, Pantami paid a courtesy visit to Kaltho at her residence to express his gratitude. He assured her and other stakeholders that the campaign would run an inclusive process where every member is carried along to secure victory in the 2027 polls.
