Governor Makinde Appoints Prince Ashiru Oyebisi Olalere as New Onilua of Ilua

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has approved the appointment of Prince Ashiru Oyebisi Olalere as the new traditional ruler, the Onilua of Ilua, in Kajola Local Government Area.

The appointment was confirmed in an official letter dated December 31, 2025, from the State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters. The letter, signed by the Director of Chieftaincy Matters, A.M. Olajire, was sighted on Saturday.

According to the notification, the appointment is effective from October 20, 2023. The ministry stated it was “directed to inform [the appointee] with pleasure” of the governor’s approval.

The state government added that the appointment will soon be gazetted in the Official Gazette of Oyo State, in compliance with statutory procedures governing chieftaincy matters.

In a congratulatory message, the ministry expressed hope that Prince Olalere’s reign would bring peace, progress, and socio-economic development to Ilua town and the wider Kajola Local Government Area.

“May your reign as the new Onilua of Ilua be synonymous with peace, progress and socio-economic growth,” the letter read, wishing the monarch a successful and impactful tenure.
