Grandmother, granddaughter killed as heavy rain, windstorm hit Bauchi community

A heavy downpour accompanied by strong winds has led to the death of two people in Bara community, Kirfi Local Government Area of Bauchi State. Several houses and property were also destroyed.
The victims have been identified as 50-year-old Aisha Sagir and her four-year-old granddaughter, Aisha Shuaibu. They were residents of Unguwar Katsinawa in Bara Village.
The incident occurred on Tuesday following a severe weather event that brought heavy rainfall and a violent windstorm to the area.
Aside from the loss of lives, the rainstorm destroyed many houses, livestock, and other valuables worth millions of naira. Security operatives from the Kirfi Divisional Police Headquarters visited the affected area to assess the damage and maintain order.
The Bauchi State Commissioner of Police extended condolences to the government and people of Kirfi Local Government Area, expressing sympathy to the bereaved family.
Residents have been advised to remain vigilant during the rainy season and to report emergencies to security agencies promptly.
