GWR: Tunde Onakoya sets world record for longest chess marathon

Nigerian chess master, Tunde Onakoya has set the new Guinness World Record for the longest chess marathon, surpassing the previous record of 56 hours and 9 minutes.
In bid to raise funds and awareness for providing educational opportunities to underprivileged children across Africa, Onakoya currently aims in the early hours of Saturday hits the 58-hour target.
According to him, he is pushing to 60hrs.
The previous Guinness World Record record of 56-hour, 9-minute mark, was set by Norwegian players Hallvard Haug Flatebø and Sjur Ferkingstad in 2018.
The 29-yr old chess master began the contest at 10 am on Wednesday, April 17, and ended at about 2:30 am on April 20.
