Immigration Arrests 55 Undocumented Foreign Nationals in Osun

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) in Osun State has arrested 55 undocumented foreign nationals during a coordinated operation across different parts of the state.

According to immigration authorities, the individuals, identified as citizens of Cameroon and the Democratic Republic of Congo, were found residing in the state without valid travel or residency documents. The operation was carried out following intelligence reports that led officials to several locations where the migrants were staying.

Speaking during the parade of the suspects, immigration officials disclosed that preliminary investigations revealed that none of the migrants possessed passports or other legal travel documents. Authorities also alleged that the group was involved in an online business operation that had not been properly registered with relevant regulatory agencies.

Officials said some of the migrants were residing in the Owode-Ede area, while investigations are ongoing to identify additional locations and individuals connected to the operation. The service added that efforts are underway to profile the suspects and determine whether any of them qualify for regularisation under existing immigration laws.

The migrants reportedly told investigators that they were engaged in a business known as QNET but provided limited details about their activities. Authorities also indicated plans to investigate those responsible for facilitating their movement and accommodation within the state.

One of the migrants claimed he arrived in Osun earlier in the year after receiving an invitation to participate in an online business venture.

The Immigration Service stated that the arrested individuals are being processed for repatriation, while investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding their entry and stay in Nigeria.
