IWD 2026: NDDC Pledges Sustained Support for Female Entrepreneurs, Gender Parity

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has reaffirmed its dedication to driving female economic advancement and gender equality across the region through targeted capacity-building programs focused on agriculture, enterprise, and international commerce.

Speaking at an International Women’s Day event in Owerri, Imo State Representative on the NDDC Board, Kyrian Uchegbu, announced the creation of a specialized Agricultural Investment Fund for women. He highlighted that the ongoing training sessions are designed to equip participants with the essential management skills needed to maximize the capital and enter export markets successfully.

NDDC Imo State Director, Patrick Obayelu, noted that the annual celebration offers an opportunity to recognize women’s leadership contributions while advancing inclusive development. Concurrently, at an event in Umuahia, the NDDC Director of Youths and Women Affairs, Ahunna Imoni, reiterated that strengthening female independence directly fosters community stability and regional growth.

The capacity-building sessions featured facilitators from the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) and the Niger Delta Chamber of Commerce, who trained participants on building export-ready businesses and implementing sustainable financial practices.
