Kano House Suspends Three Local Govt Bosses, Orders Probe

The Kano State House of Assembly has suspended the Chairmen of Bebeji, Bagwai, and Rogo Local Government Areas for three months over allegations of misappropriation of funds, abuse of office, breach of public trust, and other related offences.

Speaker of the House, Yusuf Falgore, announced the suspension during plenary, stating that the decision followed resolutions reached by the Assembly.

He said the action was taken in accordance with Sections 128 and 129 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended), as well as Section 14 of the Kano State Local Government Law, 2006.

The Assembly also directed the vice chairmen of the affected local government councils to assume office in acting capacities pending the outcome of the investigation.

The House Committee investigating the allegations is expected to submit its report with detailed findings and recommendations within ten weeks.
