Kano Suspends Three Officers Over Patient’s Death
The Kano State Hospitals Management Board has suspended three medical personnel over the death of a patient, Aishatu Umar, following a surgical procedure at the Abubakar Imam Urology Centre in Kano.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Board’s Public Relations Officer, Samira Suleiman, confirmed the suspension is immediate and follows a preliminary investigation ordered by the Executive Secretary, Mansur Mudi Nagoda. The case has been referred to the State Medical Ethical Committee for further disciplinary action.
The Board extended condolences to the family of the deceased, who reportedly died early Tuesday after months of abdominal pain following surgery in September 2025.
The Board reassured the public it does not condone negligence and is committed to enforcing professional standards to prevent similar incidents.
