Kwara APC Group Backs Tinubu for Second Term, Endorses Ex-Party Chair for Governor
A faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Moro Local Government Area of Kwara State has declared support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in the 2027 general elections.
The group also threw its weight behind a former chairman of the party in the state, Bashir Bolarinwa, as its preferred candidate for the governorship election, describing him as a unifier with proven leadership qualities.
The endorsements were made on Wednesday during a gathering of party leaders, elders, and grassroots supporters in Shao, headquarters of Moro LGA.
Speaking on behalf of the caucus, the convener, Dr. Bolaji Afolabi, said the President’s reform-driven policies, including the removal of fuel subsidy, unification of exchange rates, and the introduction of a student loan scheme, were courageous steps needed for long-term national stability.
He noted that the group remained committed to sustaining progress at both state and national levels under the APC.
On the governorship choice, Afolabi said Bolarinwa’s tenure as APC chairman in Kwara helped the party achieve a clean sweep in the 2019 elections, adding that he played a key role in the OTOGE political movement that reshaped the state’s political landscape.
The caucus further called on the party’s leadership to consider Moro LGA for the House of Representatives seat in 2027, citing the area’s consistent electoral support for the APC as justification.
The group pledged continued loyalty to the party and its leadership at all levels.
