Kwara State Deploys New Doctors to Rural Health Facilities

In a move to improve healthcare access, the Kwara State Government has recruited and deployed medical doctors to several health facilities across the state.

The deployment, announced by the State Hospitals Management Board, targets hospitals in Alapa, Afon, Iponrin, Ajikobi, and Ajase-Ipo. According to the Board, Cottage Hospital Alapa, General Hospital Afon, and Cottage Hospital Iponrin have each received a newly posted doctor who has begun active service.

The initiative aims to ensure residents in these communities have direct access to professional medical care, reducing the need for referrals to distant facilities. Additionally, Cottage Hospitals in Ajikobi and Ajase-Ipo have received extra doctors to bolster existing staff, a step intended to ease workloads and improve efficiency.

The Executive Secretary of the Hospitals Management Board, Dr. Abdulraheem Malik, stated the recruitment is a deliberate effort by the state government to strengthen the healthcare system. “By strengthening staffing at these facilities, we are improving service delivery and ensuring that our communities have better access to timely and professional medical care,” he said.

Dr. Malik added that the initiative aligns with Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s policy of investing in human capital as a core part of healthcare reform.

The state government has reiterated its commitment to continue recruiting qualified health professionals to achieve accessible and affordable quality healthcare for all residents.
