Lagos traffic: LASTMA releases update on Eko bridge gridlock

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has attributed the gridlock experienced on Eko Bridge to ongoing repair work by the Federal Ministry of Works on Apongbon Bridge.

The General Manager of LASTMA, Mr Olalekan Bakare-Oki, stated this in an interview with NAN on Tuesday in Lagos.

Bakare-Oki said engineers had been working for four to five hours, causing traffic congestion.

“We asked them to remove the barrier that had been placed, and they have since left the area. We are now coping with the backlog,” he said.

Motorists heading to the Island via Eko Bridge were stranded for hours due to the repairs at Apongbon Bridge, with the gridlock extending to Alaka bus stop.
