LASUTH Says Sanwo-Olu Did Not Deny Anyone Access To Train Crash Victims

The Lagos State University Teaching Hospital(LASUTH) has denied an allegation that the State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu prevented visits to victims of the Ikeja train accident.

Some members of the Labour Party had earlier  alleged that they were prevented from seeing the accident victims on the orders of Governor Sanwo-Olu.

Reacting to the allegation, the management of LASUTH said that the instruction to limit visits was given by their CMD.

The full statement read ” LASUTH management and staff has been drawn to an instagram post accusing the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu of giving instructions preventing people from coming into the wards and visiting victims of the unfortunate Train-Bus Accident.

First and foremost, members of the public should please note that the State Governor, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has never been directly involved in the day to day running of LASUTH. The hospital has a management team, led by a renowned Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology and an astute administrator per excellence, Professor Adetokunbo O. Fabamwo.

Secondly, the instruction to limit publicity of these victims and other patients on admission was authorized by the Chief Medical Director. The Governor has never been involved such decisions.

The gentleman in the said video, approached us with his request as stated and was advised to convey this decision of management to his Principal.

“Lastly, members of the public are hereby advised to ignore the instagram post in question and be rest assured of the genuine concern of the Governor of Lagos State about the health and welfare of everyone.

“They should also trust the management of LASUTH to take decisions and make pronouncements that are clearly devoid of political theatrics and in the best interest of the patients.”, the statement read.
