Maritime Sector Gets Boost as Nigeria Tanzania partner

The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has taken a significant step to strengthen regional collaboration and support the growth of Africa’s maritime sector by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Tanzania Shipping Agencies Cooperation.
The high-level bilateral meeting, held on the sidelines of the International Maritime Organisation General Assembly, aimed to enhance maritime governance, improve operational capacity, and support the development of strong and resilient maritime institutions.
The MoU, signed by the Director-General of NIMASA, Dr Dayo Mobereola, and Tanzania’s Alternate Permanent Representative to the IMO, Dr Devotha Edward Mandanda, reaffirms the commitment of both nations to advancing maritime surveillance, developing seafarer capacity, strengthening cabotage administration, and expanding the use of digital information systems.
According to NIMASA’s Deputy Director/Head of Public Relations, Osagie Edward, the partnership marks the start of a new phase in regional maritime collaboration, with continuous knowledge-sharing initiatives aimed at boosting operational effectiveness.
Dignitaries, including NIMASA Governing Board Chairman, Yusuf Abubakar, Executive Directors, and Nigeria’s Alternate Permanent Representative to the IMO, William Bwala, attended the meeting.
This partnership is part of NIMASA’s efforts to boost the nation’s maritime sector through collaborations with foreign bodies.
