Marmoush Will Play Key Role in City’s Run-In, Says Guardiola

Pep Guardiola has backed Omar Marmoush to play a significant role in Manchester City’s busy run-in as the club chases a potential domestic treble.

With four games remaining this season, including the FA Cup final, City face a hectic 12-day spell. The Egyptian forward has started just seven Premier League matches this term, but proved his value by scoring as a substitute in Saturday’s 3-0 victory over Brentford.

Guardiola acknowledged that game time has been limited for Marmoush due to Erling Haaland’s prolific form, but he expects fringe players to step up when called upon. City trail Premier League leaders Arsenal by five points but have a game in hand.

The manager stated that rotation will be necessary to keep the squad fresh for the demanding schedule ahead. He praised Marmoush’s goal contribution relative to his minutes on the pitch, noting that while Haaland remains crucial, the Egyptian has delivered when given opportunities.

Haaland, meanwhile, reached his 50th goal of the season for club and country at the weekend. Guardiola recalled that the Norwegian had struggled with fatigue after international duty in November but has since regained his form.
